Incredible Mardi Himal Trek with Mountain Sherpa trekking
Returned just over a week ago from a memorable trek to Mardi Himal. I am so impressed with this company! Our needs were specific - our trek needed to be challenging enough for my super fit son, but easy enough for me (the trip was a 70th birthday present from my son), and we wanted "a road less traveled." Mountain Sherpa trekking matched our needs to this adventure perfectly. Our guide and porter could not have been more helpful or sympathetic, and kept us informed about everything we saw en route. We were absolutely delighted with every aspect of the trip.
Our trip was booked through and arranged by the fine people at Mountain Sherpa Trekking & Expeditions. Our itinerary included 3 days in and around Kathmandu, the 6 day trek, 2 days rafting on the Seti river and 3 days on an elephant safari in Chitwan national park - all highly recommended. Mr Pasang Sherpa made all the arrangements and Mr Sumba Sherpa looked after us faultlessly for the two and a half weeks of our stay. We highly recommend this tour for all who wants to see nepal well.
Our guide, Sumba taught us all manner of things about life in Nepal and showed us some incredible sights so it was only fair that we should in turn pass on some invaluable knowledge to him. During the many chats we had while Anne and Kevin toiled (and Sumba skipped) up hills and down dales, Sumba let it slip that, in addition to speaking excellent English, he also spoke a little French. Nepal is a popular destination for our European neighbours and, if you want business as a guide, you need to speak the lingo. As it turned out Sumba spoke really rather good French but he was unaware of the most important communication tool in the French language. So, without further ado, we launched into Gallic Shrugging lessons. A very quick learner, Sumba was soon a shrugging master.
By the end of the trek we were a fair bit fitter, in awe of the Nepalese great outdoors, charmed by the Nepalese people and, if truth be told, a bit smelly. Would we have changed anything?
No.
Would we do it again?
Yes indeed. Maybe in spring when the rhododendron forests are in bloom.
Would we recommend it to others? Absolutely and without hesitation.
Best regards,
Kevin Laxton & Anne Tyrrell

We recently completed a ten day tour in and around Kathmandu, Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Chitwan National Park, Lumbini and Pokhara. There is no question that this was one of the best and most interesting holidays we've ever taken. As an experience, the breadth and diversity was astonishing. We began in Kathmandu and stayed in Dwarikas (truly a great experience in itself - the building is like no other, dinner is fantastic and the outdoor barbeques by the pool are second to none). It took only really a couple of days to visit the various squares and temples and gain an appreciation of the fabulous architecture and wood carving, but then we were really there to see Everest. On the third day we stayed at Club Himalaya in Nagarkot, which is a fairly decent hotel, but in a wonderful situation. The view that night afforded us the first undisturbed view of Everest (albeit a distant view). But the following morning was utterly amazing. From our hotel room and then from the viewing platform we saw the sun rise over the Himalayas. Without going into detail it is simply the best thing I've ever seen....
From then on, anything we did was a bonus (No1 job was done), but I was very surprised that I was to enjoy Tiger Tops in Chitwan enormously. It seemed a little expensive, but there were so many activities throughout the day, it really is good value: from elephant trekking, lectures, hiking, safari, river rides and we were allowed to spend some time with their baby elephant which was really very special. We next went to Lumbini, the birth place of Buddha. We left early for Tiger Mountain at Pokhara the next day and again really enjoyed it. It has incredibly pretty countryside and many outdoor activities including rafting and probably the most interesting golf course in the world (buy plenty of balls). We wanted to spend more time here, but had to get back to Kathmandu for our Everest flight (fully recommend this).
Pasang personally took care of us from start to finish and ensured at every point we were looked after, happy and had everything we needed. He constructed a very well balanced tour and was able to quickly make changes when we changed our minds about things. We were a little nervous to start with as we'd decided to go for all the luxury options that our needs would be met, but we were most impressed by Pasang's trustworthiness and attention to detail. We thought it was well worth aiming for the higher end hotels as they aren't ridiculously expensive by international standards, but well worth it for their added benefits of good food, service, views and activities. In short, we had an unforgettable experience and Pasang and his team did a great job, made everything happen and exceeded our expectations on every count.
In 2006 we had a wonderful Everest trek organized by Mountain Sherpa. In 2013 October I could return with a group of 13 people, and this time we choose the same company. And indeed, we had an excellent holiday again, this time with cultural sightseeing. All the group members enjoyed very much the excursions to the Chitwan National Park, Pokhara, Nagarkot, and the ancient cities of Patan and Bakhtapur. We stayed in good hotels worth for the price, especially the resort in Chitwan was excellent. We enjoyed the kind guidance of Sumba and Pasang, thanks for taking the time for being our tour guide! For sure I will recommend the team of Mountain Sherpa Trekking to all of the people who would like to visit Nepal, either for trekking or for just having a nice time in this beautiful country. I also hope that I will be able to return one day!
“Fantastic and totally succeed trek to Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill, together with our three kids (12,10,10)”
We can strongly recommend Mountain Sherpa as your organizer of trekkingtours in Nepal!
From the beginning the company had a relevant, personal and reflective communication with us about possibilities for a trek for our family with appropriate amount of challenges, beautifulness and safety (regarding altitude). It was very easy to adjust the trek, with extra days, special transports etc.
In Nepal all Agreements was met, together with an amazing ability, to adjust and amend plans ongoing on the trek depending on weather and health. The succeed was not least due to our fantastic guide Sherpa Pemba Chhiring, who did an extremely professional job and in addition is a very nice person all our kids and ourselves have come to care much of. The way of being together with our kids was outstanding. We were also very satisfied about our two very friendly porters, and during the days we all became the team we had dreamed about. From beginning to end it was the best experience ever.
Thank you for a fantastic experience
