Mr. Pasang Sherpa

Co-Founder & Director of Marketing & Business Development

Born in the remote village of Mera in Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality, within Nepal’s Lower Everest region, Mr. Pasang Sherpa grew up surrounded by the mountains that would later define his life’s work. As the middle of three Sherpa brothers, he carries both the resilience of his heritage and a deep sense of responsibility toward his community.

In 1995, after completing his School Leaving Certificate (Grade 10), Pasang moved to Kathmandu with determination and ambition. While pursuing a degree in commerce at Saraswati Multiple Campus, he worked in the trekking industry to support his education. What began as a necessity soon became a calling.

His journey in tourism started humbly as a porter on the Annapurna Base Camp trek with Canadian travelers. Through dedication, professionalism, and a naturally warm personality, he quickly gained the trust and admiration of guests. He advanced to assistant guide on camping expeditions and eventually became a fully certified trekking guide, leading adventures across Nepal and beyond.

With over 27 years of experience, Pasang has successfully guided more than 2,700 treks and expeditions across Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Sri Lanka. His field expertise is complemented by academic excellence—he holds two master’s degrees: a Master’s in Business and an MA in Political Science. This rare combination of mountain experience and higher education gives him both strategic vision and operational depth.

Beyond business, Pasang is a respected leader in Nepal’s tourism community. He served as Secretary of the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (2013–2015) and is a Charter Member of the Lions Club of Nepal Gaurishankar. Today, he proudly serves as President of the Sherpa Tourism Entrepreneurs Association, advocating for Sherpa guides and tourism professionals who form the backbone of Nepal’s mountain industry.

Driven by a deep desire to give back, Pasang founded the Mountain Sherpa Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving education and healthcare in remote Himalayan communities. Currently, Mountain Sherpa Trekking provides scholarships to 140 students across all seven wards of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality, with a long-term commitment spanning ten years. During the COVID-19 crisis, when tourism came to a complete halt, the company also extended financial and logistical support to over 400 Sherpa guides and porters, ensuring families could endure one of the most difficult periods in modern tourism history.

Pasang Sherpa embodies the true spirit of Himalayan leadership—resilient, educated, compassionate, and visionary. Under his guidance, Mountain Sherpa Trekking is not only a trekking company but a purpose-driven organization committed to excellence, sustainability, and community empowerment.

For Pasang, every journey is more than an itinerary—it is an opportunity to connect cultures, uplift communities, and create life-changing experiences in the heart of the Himalayas.
