Mr. Sumba Sherpa

Born in a remote village of Nepal’s Lower Everest region, Mr. Sumba Sherpa is the youngest of three Sherpa brothers who proudly run Mountain Sherpa Trekking as a family-owned company. His journey in tourism began at the age of 17, at a time when trekking infrastructure in Nepal was extremely limited and only a handful of lodges existed in regions such as Everest, Annapurna, and Langtang.

Mr. Sherpa’s career was built from the ground up. He began in tourism as a porter and later became an assistant Sherpa guide—a role responsible for setting up camps before guests arrived, carrying supplies between kitchen and dining tents, and assisting trekkers on demanding Himalayan trails. Over the years, he gained extensive experience, leading more than 700 groups on treks and climbs across Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, and India. These early years gave him something no textbook or office job can: deep, first-hand knowledge of Nepal’s trekking routes, mountain conditions, and the real needs of travelers in the Himalayas.

Having worked every role in the field, Mr. Sumba understands trekking from a guest’s perspective as well as from an operational one. This experience allows him to design exceptionally well-planned itineraries, balancing adventure, safety, comfort, and cultural authenticity. Quality service is not just a goal for him—it is a personal commitment.

As Co-Founder and CEO of Mountain Sherpa Trekking & Expeditions, Mr. Sherpa personally oversees itinerary design, guide management, and client communication. He regularly visits trekking regions across Nepal to update routes, improve services, and ensure the highest standards of safety and guest satisfaction. He firmly believes that only when guests feel safe, cared for, and comfortable can they truly enjoy their Himalayan adventure.

Deeply connected to his roots, Mr. Sherpa believes tourism should benefit both visitors and local communities. Through the Mountain Sherpa Foundation, every trip you book helps support education and reduce poverty in Himalayan villages. In 2023, the Foundation awarded 140 scholarships across Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality and is committed to continuing this support for the next ten years, creating brighter futures for the next generation.
